Dream

“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams
and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined,
he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
Henry David Thoreau

Just

JustWhen I saw this from above at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan
last week, I didn’t know quite what to make of it, but somehow
it absorbed me. Perhaps its warmth spoke to my longing
for the sun on a winter day; perhaps its symmetry
symbolized justice in our unjust world.
Whatever the reason, I decided to
stop thinking and just enjoy…

love XII
In the aftermath of the tragedy
in Connecticut, it’s a time for cuddling
close with those we love. These two hounds,
Josh and Kara, were rescued by a dear friend.
When I visited her last Thursday and snapped this
on my iPhone, I knew it would end up here, but I had no
idea what would transpire the next morning and couldn’t
have imagined how vital its message would be…

Fossil

“I don’t seek, I find.”
Serpent 1These are wise words from someone
who taught me a great deal about photography.
When I first heard them, I was confounded. How can I find if I don’t seek?
Yet as time passes, I find that when I’m searching for something,
anything—my keys, the perfect gift, a new friend—
it eludes me, doesn’t appear until I stop looking.
Here’s a fossil in the sand that I discovered
through my lens one cold day when
I least expected it…
