We all have our demons.
But what to do when they come knocking
in our dreams, in our thoughts, at our real doors?
For years, I was at their mercy, became paralyzed with fear
when they appeared in nightmares, on the phone, in a letter or at my door.
I would disappear, hand over my power just like that. Through recovery,
I’ve learned that I have a choice. To let then possess me…..or let
them pass through me, just like this Phantom displayed here.
What I’ve learned is that they come from the past which
is no longer….that today they exist
only if I let them.

  4. Fabulous post Meryl. Think most everyone can relate, and your message gives comfort since it makes us realize we are not alone…and we do have a choice. You have shared great wisdom also in how to disempower the demons. Thank you dear friend! xo

    • Disempower the demons! Yes…that’s exactly it…easier said than done…but happy that it provided comfort…it’s pretty scary putting it out there, but the more I do…the more it seems to resound…thanks for all the encouragement, Robyn…xoxm

      • And forgot to mention also– what a cool image this is!! Love the lines and angles ~ geometry everywhere and then the “phantom demon” — all around wonderful work. Glad you are getting more comfortable with the putting it out there thing. I know exactly what that fear is about, but so far has only been positive for me to share my heart – in doses xo

  5. Meryl, your photo and words are very powerful. And it is so true that we all have some kind of demons in our lives. So to mention them, and allow others to know they are not alone, takes away the power from these demons, and instead replaces those spaces with an inner strength and understanding…the power like you say to have a choice. Thank you for your honesty. Blessings, Erin

  6. Thank you Erin! It’s wonderful to hear from you and that my message has soothed you. It was rather scary putting this out there, but has been gratifying to hear how others relate and are strengthened by it….xoxm

  7. Hi Meryl,
I’ve been up and down through Phantoms trying to pick a favourite, and after much deliberation I’ve decided that this is The One… not in a neo matrix style but in one that really leaps off the screen.

The picture is brilliant, the figure so menacing ( especially in view of whats happened recently ) even malevolent in its lack of shape, just enough to make out its form as it sneaks from one corner of your eye to the other.
Coupled with your words too, definitely makes Demon top of my choice so far, it’s certainly a very powerful entry 🙂
    Thanks for sharing,
    love n hugs
    xxx
